The Outbound Ghost release date has just been announced for September 21st, meaning that players will soon be able to play the adventure RPG. It's coming to Steam, Epic Games Store and other PC storefronts for $19.99, with digital versions launching on consoles later this year. Let's take a closer look at it, shall we?

Why should I care about The Outbound Ghost release date?

The Outbound Ghost has a similar art style to games like Paper Mario: The Origami King, which means that this adventure RPG is in 2.5D with paper-style characters. As for the game itself, players will help ghosts ascend into the afterlife in the town of Outbound, which is literally a ghost town. As one might expect, the town is full of ghosts with unsolved issues. Players will have to gain new abilities, solve puzzles, and uncover the mysteries of the town so that its residents can free themselves and find peace in the afterlife. Players will try to find peace for themselves too, but that's going to be tricky as they can't remember the mistakes of their past life.

I don't think they're talking about Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Throughout the game, players will unlock figments of their past personality such as Regret, Comradery, and Jealousy. They will use them as party members in turn-based battles while also crafting materials into badges gained by winning combat encounters. The badges can then be equipped for different effects and stat boosts.

If you're wondering about a physical release for The Outbound Ghost, players will be able to acquire a copy of their own on November 25th for PlayStation platforms for $29.99 or their regional equivalent. A Nintendo Switch physical release is also coming, but it'll run you $34.99 or your regional equivalent instead. Still, if you've had your fill of the N64 Paper Mario on the Switch Online service, this should be a good alternative.
