404 Game Re:Set Out Run

Today Sega released a new trailer of the upcoming mobile JRPG 404 Game Re:Set, born from the mind of NieR: Automata creator Yoko Taro.

The trailer introduces one of the characters who you'll meet in the game, Out Run. If you're wondering, she's basically a personified version of the Out Run series.

She's voiced by Ai Kakuma, whom you may know for her role as Yuri Sakazak in recent The King of Fighters games, Rosaria in Genshin Impact, Edelgard von Hresvelg in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Setsuna in I am Setsuna, and Ion in Ciel Nosurge and Ar Nosurge

Japan brought us catgirls, shipgirls, airplane girls, horsegirls, game console girls... and now we have waifus who combine popular video game franchises and an (anime-style) human form. Considering the precedents and the fact that Yoko Taro is involved, I don't think this is all that surprising, after all. He did warn us quite clearly of the fact that he simply really likes girls, after all.

You can check out the trailer below.

If you're unfamiliar with 404 Game Re:Set, also known as Error Game Reset, it's an upcoming mobile JRPG born of a partnership between Sega and Yoko Taro announced a few days ago after a mysterious tease.

It's for iOS and Android and free-to-play, which means that it also comes with the inevitable gacha, which explains why Sega is taking its beloved franchises like Out Run, After Burner, Virtua Cop, and Virtua Fighter, and turning them into waifus you can unlock.

They will form a resistance against a distorted world in which Sega itself has taken over. It's Yoko Taro all right. At the moment, a western release for this game has not been announced. We'll see if Sega will decide to bring it over down the line.
