Yoku's Island Express is a unique new game that blends open-world metroidvania gameplay with pinball to create an adventure that at first glance looks to be fast-paced, light-hearted, and fun. This is Vita Gorilla's first game, with a 3-man development team who has experience publishing both AAA and indie games across multiple platforms.
Players take on the role of Yoku, a dung beetle that has just arrived on Mokumana island to assume his new duties as a postman - but with the ancient God of the island trapped in a restless sleep - Yoku must wake this God and help save the islanders from the great quakes and storms created by his dreams.
You must make your way across a non-linear, open, world that rewards you for taking the road less taken - utilizing the gameplay mechanics of pinball all the way along Yoku's journey. From what we see in the announcement trailer, the game is filled with wonderful visuals and exploration of a unique world that will have you bumping, bouncing, and flying around pinball-styled areas as you make your way through the game. You'll meet a variety of characters and creatures, as you fly through the air, move through beautifully hand-created environments, feed starving lemurs, and most importantly of all - discover the mystery of the Fruit Altar (because, we hope, it's just a ton of delicious fruit to eat).
