The newest Northgard update, Expeditions, has been announced and it gives players new questlines and more than 50 craftable cosmetics to find and unlock. There's also a Shiro Games Publisher sale (that includes Northgard) and the opening of pre-orders for The Art of Northgard, a 178-page art book that's limited to 1,000 copies.
“With the Expeditions Update, Northgard players can experience a new side of the game,” said Adrien Briatta, Head of Publishing, Shiro Games. “From narrative-driven battles against warlords to exploration-driven objectives, the Expeditions update has something for everyone -- including those who’d like to change their Warchief’s looks.”
The Northgard Expeditions update is out today and gives players Expedition questlines to discover treasure. There are four types of questlines that follow hidden steps, with one objective requiring completion before the next objective is unlocked. Players can take them as daily missions or weekly challenges in different difficulty settings. Tow of the expeditions are Discovery Expeditions and Master Expeditions, which are tied to story content, achievement unlocks, and the Conquest game mode.
Seasonal Expeditions are multi-month quests that will include Raids, which are narratively-driven campaigns against clan leaders and warlords, and Ranked Expeditions are for those who like to take the fight online. While completing the expeditions, players will receive precious metals and gleaming gemstones for completing objectives, with tiered rewards based on in-game difficulty.
Like there are varieties of ketchup, there are 57 new cosmetics in the game, which include Warchief and Town Hall skins and placeable objects such as totems and banquets. Gems and metals can be combined to create cosmetics of five rarities in total.
With the new Northgard update adding Expeditions now available, a Shiro Games Publisher Sale will soon be available on Steam from Feb 16-22. The sale includes 60% off the base game, 50% all DLC (except for Lynx Clan which is 33% off. Other games that are discounted include Darksburg at 50% off and the Evoland franchise at 75% off.
The Art of Northgard is now available to pre-order for $55. It's limited to 1,000 copies and is available in English and French. The artbook will give players a look on the "design, creation, and evolution of the Viking strategy game throughout the years." Each artbook will come with an A3 poster of Northgard key art, a cardboard stand and three lithographs of Boar, Wolf, and Stag Clans, and an exclusive Town Hall skin for PC versions of the game.
All of this is coming as Viking games are experience a surge in attention with the new Viking survival game Valheim picking up over 2 million sales in its first two weeks. Northgard has never had that level of virality, but it has managed to rack up more then 2 million in sales of its own over its time on the store with various updates helping drive interest.
