No Man's Sky Beyond is the next chapter of the No Man's Sky saga and it sounds pretty impressive—it will roll three batches of content into one massive update. The developers at Hello Games are planning on rolling out information about this new content gradually, and we just got our first tidbit of information about a real game-changer for online play. No Man's Sky Online will be the first step in radically improving the game's long-awaited multiplayer.

No Man's Sky Online is set to be a "radical new social and multiplayer experience" according to the No Man's Sky Beyond announcement. In short, this should make it easier than ever for players to get together and meet up to play the game. If you're at all concerned about any kind of monthly charge, worry not: No Man's Sky Online will be completely free for all owners of the game. The developers don't consider No Man's Sky an MMO and thus they won't be charging people as such.

As for the other parts of No Man's Sky Beyond, we'll have to wait to hear more details. Hello Games calls Beyond "our most ambitious chapter so far", largely because it's taking three content updates and rolling them into one massive package.

No Man's Sky won our award for Best Evolving Game in 2018. No Man's Sky BeyondNo Man's Sky Online, and the mystery features we've yet to hear about will be launching sometime in Summer 2019. You can get No Man’s Sky for the PC over on Steam and the Humble Store or DRM-free at GOG for $59.99 or your regional equivalent. Console players can get it at the Microsoft Store for the Xbox One at a price of $49.99 and at the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 4 at a price of $59.99.
