No Man's Sky

The No Man's Sky Beachhead Expedition 2 update includes an unlikely addition: a Mass Effect crossover, with the SSV Normandy SR1 ship from the sci-fi saga now available as a ship for players. In order to unlock the appearance players had to solve a puzzle with "hidden and encrypted goals." The mystery has been solved, and now players can fly around space looking as though they're about to save the universe.

We are thrilled and flattered that BioWare and EA let us pay tribute in this way. As huge fans of the series, it’s a lovely moment for sci-fi fans. Like everyone else we’ve been rediscovering the amazing universe of Mass Effect through the release of the Legendary Edition. I still have chills every time I see this incredibly iconic ship warping in, and was delighted to see so many people have the same reaction.

It didn't take too long for players to discover the patch's secrets, with the Expedition 2 patch launching on May 17, only 4 days ago. Since then, players figured out what the Historiographical Dosimeter was and how to use it, along with those who cracked the code and translated messages hidden within a secret alphabet. Then players had to cobble together the story of the Normandy out of flux fragments at monoliths across the universe with players ultimately using all of this research to unlock the Myth Beacon and summon the "weapon" into existence.

If you want to be Commander Shepard, you have until May 31st to unlock the ship. If you don't, it'll be gone forever and you'll have to watch all the other cool kids be cool with their cool-looking ships, saying this is their favorite asteroid in the universe.

There are also more surprises for No Man's Sky players during its 5th year anniversary, so be sure to stay tuned to TechRaptor for more updates.
