Yesterday, Nintendo rolled out the first Nintendo Wii U firmware update of the year 2019. This is the first update to the system since September 3rd of 2018, according to Nintendo's log of firmware updates, and comes along with the following changes and fixes:

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience
The message is similar to other updates across several years. With the last major change coming in an August 5th, 2015 update that removed the Tvii button from the Wii U menu and home menu as seen in the official Nintendo update log for the Wii U.

First released in 2012, the Nintendo Wii U was the successor to the best selling Wii home video game console. Launching with a touch screen gamepad to enhance play, the system saw the release of such notable titles as Smash Bros for Wii U, Super Mario Maker, and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze among others.

During its lifetime, the console struggled to find an audience, and sold a mere 12.5 million units, making it one of Nintendo's worst selling consoles of all time. In 2017 the Nintendo Switch was released as a next-generation portable-home hybrid console to replace the Wii U. Since its release, the Switch has since received ports of many popular Wii U titles, including the likes of Zelda Breath of the Wild.  The Switch also saw many sequels to game series that began on the Wii U, like Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Maker 2.

Are there any of you out there that still use your Wii U on a regular basis? If so, what games keep you coming back for more and how does it compare to other consoles you use regularly? Share your experiences with the console and its games in the comments below.
