Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will be able to download select SNES games via the service starting today. These SNES titles will be available at no additional cost to already active subscribers.
This news came via yesterday's Nintendo Direct. 20 SNES games will be available, including four which have not previously been up for purchase since their original SNES release. There's a pretty even spread of titles on the list; some RPGs, some platformers, and some sports games. It's a pretty diverse list, so if you're a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber you should get your money's worth. In addition to the SNES Switch Online library, Nintendo also announced a special controller for the Switch. It's shaped like the original SNES controller, but it's completely wireless. You'll be able to order up to four of these per Nintendo Account, and you'll only be able to get them if you've got an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. Presumably, the controller will also be compatible with other games that support sideways Joy-Con play. Nintendo says the controllers will be available "soon".
