Square Enix arrived at Nintendo's Switch event with a brand new RPG world. Tentatively named Project Octopath Traveler, it displays a 3D graphical environment filled with 2D sprites. This game will be helmed by the team who previously worked on Bravely Default and Bravely Second, but it's assumed that this will be a completely new franchise.
The trailer (posted above for your convenience) shows a wonderful handpainted art style to go along with the interesting sprite filled overworld. These sprites carry on into the combat, which is a traditional turn-based affair. Near the end, we get a group shot of characters from the game, filling many roles that you'd expect from a role playing game of this type.
A 2.5D world not unlike Tomba, Project Octopath Traveler looks to satisfy the JRPG itch of Nintendo fans when it launches on the Nintendo Switch in the future. TechRaptor will continue to update you on Project Octopath Traveler and other Nintendo Switch titles as the day rolls on.
