There were a bevy of The Legend of Zelda related announcements in the latest Nintendo Direct and you've come to the right place for a rundown of all of them. The first announcement was for a 3rd DLC pack for Hyrule Warriors Legends. The "Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks" pack will include 2 new playable characters in the form of Toon Link and Toon Zelda as well as a new adventure map. We got a brief demonstration of the gameplay of each of the characters and a quick look at the adventure map.
It was Also announced that The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD would be heading to the Nintendo Selects program and everyone's favorite Zelda game Skyward Sword is making it's way to the Wii U eShop, so if you haven't played either of those you've got an easy in now.
The announcement I found most interesting is that Nintendo will be working in partnership with Dark Horse Comics to make 3 different Zelda books. The first of which, titled Art and Artifacts, will be an art book spanning the entire series with over 2000 illustrations.
There are also 4 new Zelda Amiibos on the way including 8-bit Link, Ocarina of Time Link and a double pack of Toon Link and Toon Zelda. These new amiibo will have some sort of special function in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild but what exactly that function will be is unknown.
The previously announced NES classic edition will be bundled with 30 games, and the original Legend of Zelda and Zelda II will be among them.
Overall there are a lot of announcements to be excited about if you are a Zelda fan. With the 30th anniversary of the series and a new game approaching rapidly you should have plenty to keep you busy over the next year.
