Luigi's Mansion is back for a third tour with Luigi's Mansion 3.
Luigi's Mansion 3 will star Luigi, once again taking up the mantle of ghost catcher, this time in a dark, mysterious hotel. Mario and Peach disappear while on vacation in the mysterious hotel, and it's up to Luigi to once again save his brother from the clutches of the creepy ghosts that haunt the hotel's hallways.
To help Luigi in the game, new functions are added to help capture ghosts. Some of these are just straight up new abilities such as the slam, which helps subdue ghosts. Others are designed to interact with the environment, such as the suction shot attack which can actually grab and smash objects. This, in turn, will also give Luigi more control over the environment, something definitely needed to tackle the more puzzle-like elements of the series.
The biggest addition to Luigi's Mansion 3, however, is Gooigi. This green, flubber-like creature can sneak its way behind tight quarters and even spike tracks, so long as you don't get caught in water, which dissolves him. Gooigi is designed to be used for co-op play, letting players take a Joycon controller and catch some ghosts together with a friend in local co-op.
Gooigi is also used for the games online mode, called Scarescraper mode. Adding in eight-player co-op and multiplayer gameplay that can be either online or local play.
It is clear Gooigi is going to be the new star of the show with Luigi, but whatever form he takes he will get ready to snatch and catch ghosts on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo did not reveal a release date for Luigi's Mansion 3, but is promising the game will be released later this year.
