After a short cinematic cutscene, we got to see some gameplay from Romero Games' Empire of Sin, a brand-new game that's set in the golden age of gangsters. This strategy game will have you trying to build a criminal empire in 1920's Chicago using all the means at your disposal.
Players will move through the game world from an isometric perspective, commanding their gangsters and utilizing all of the classic weapons from the era. Shred your enemies to pieces with Tommy Guns as you try to take over the town and be the big man on top!
Players can raise money by operating a number of illegal businesses like speakeasies and casinos.
Once you get established, you can move in on rival gangs and take over their territory and businesses, expanding your criminal empire even further. Be careful, though — you'll also have to defend your assets against equally-ambitious competitors.
The City of Chicago is said in a press release to be a "living, breathing city". Each of the game's core characters will have lives of their own that will (or won't) affect the game depending on the decisions that you make.
Interestingly, Empire of Sin will also offer several options for winning the game. Sure, you can go full Al Capone and just cave in everyone's skulls with a baseball bat, but it's just as likely for players to simply knock the competition out through business smarts or by acquiring a terrifying reputation.
Empire of Sin is coming Spring 2020 for the Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. You can watch the Empire of Sin announcement trailer for yourself below to see a little bit of gameplay in action.
