Nintendo Direct 2/13 - An Army of Switch Ports Announced

Today's Nintendo Direct announced a whole variety of ports for the Nintendo Switch. Seven games, new and old, are going to be joining the console's library.

Old, new, and unreleased

The seven ported games announced for the Nintendo Switch are:
  • Final Fantasy VII: The classic PlayStation RPG gets another platform for reaching modern audiences. As the mercenary Cloud Strife, players will join the group AVALANCHE in their battle against the Shinra Electric Power Company as well as Cloud's former comrade Sephiroth. Re-experience the classic when it releases on Nintendo Switch March 27.
  • Final Fantasy IX: Another classic PlayStation RPG joins the Switch's library! When the lovable rogue Zidane gets mixed up in a world domination plot involving the princess of Alexandria, he and a wide variety of characters go on a quest of self-discovery and save the world. Another classic in the Final Fantasy series is available right now!
  • Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy!: A Switch remastering of the 2008 Wii game Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon. A Final Fantasy spin-off featuring the popular yellow bird as it explores randomly-generated dungeons collects treasure and saves the world. The remaster releases on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on March 20.
  • Unravel 2: A 2018 puzzle platformer originally released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This sequel allows for a second player to join in as a second Yarny and cooperate to complete puzzles. This game releases on the Switch March 22.
  • Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice: A dark fantasy game by Ninja Theory that touches upon themes of mental health and psychosis. A broken Celtic warrior delves on a vision quest into the underworld to fight for the soul of her lover. The game does not yet have a hard release date.
  • Mortal Kombat 11: The newest entry in the iconic and brutal fighting game series. This upcoming title is set for an April 23 release date for all three consoles and PC.
  • Assassin's Creed III Remastered: The first Assassin's Creed game available on the Switch.  This version makes use of the Switch's unique features and updated features for a new experience. It includes the full game, the single-player missions 'Benedict Arnold' and 'Hidden Secrets,' The Tyranny of George Washington DLC, and Assassin's Creed Liberation Remastered. All of this releases May 21 on Switch, a couple months after it lands on other platforms.
