Gust’s Nights of Azure is getting a sequel and a lot of new details about the upcoming title have been revealed in a recent issue of Japanese gaming publication Dengeki Playstation. As translated over at Gematsu, The sequel is called Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon and will be set in the same world as the original. As part of Gust’s “Beautiful Girl’s Festival”,which includes the release of three games with female protagonists, Nights of Azure 2 will feature three new female protagonists connected by a new emotional story.
Produced by Keisuke Kikuchi and directed by Hitoshi Kataoka (Samurai Warriors Chronicles), the new game has many experienced professionals working on the project. Makato Shibata (series director of Fatal Frame and Kagero) will be in charge of scenarios and Yoshiku is doing the character designs. The preview article from Dengeki Playstation states that the game will have new systems and a more in depth Servan system.
Further details have revealed facts about the characters, story and gameplay of Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon. The narrative will revolve around three women: knight of the Curia Alushe, saint Lilianna and Ruhenied, a Holy Knight of an order opposing the Curia. Similar to the first Nights of Azure game, it’s discovered that the saint must sacrifice herself to the goddess of the moon and in an act of passion Curia knight Alushe is killed, only to be resurrected as a half demon.
Gameplay will have similarities to the original game with some improvements and big changes. One such addition is the inclusion of a “Lily” partner system which will allow players to choose a partner to fight alongside them. As you fight with a particular partner your relationship will grow and new abilities and special events will be unlocked. Servans will also be included in the game’s combat and the overall tone and aesthetic of the the sequel will be in the style of its predecessor.
Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon is the second game in Gust’s “Beautiful Girls Festival” following Atelier Firis: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Journey and preceding new project Blue Reflection. Expected to release this winter in Japan, Nights of Azure 2 will be available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
