The Badlands in Cyberpunk 2077

Today, the inaugural Night City Wire live stream for Cyberpunk 2077 took place. During the stream, CD Projekt Red introduced the Badlands, a seventh district of Night City, and showed some gameplay taking place within the area.

The Badlands will be a large wasteland-style area on the city's outskirts. You'll be able to fully explore the Badlands using your car or motorcycle, and there will be plenty of characters out there to get to know. You'll also encounter the Nomads, a gang that roams the Badlands exclusively. To learn more, says Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Pavel Sasko, you'll have to play the game.

What will Cyberpunk 2077's Badlands have in store for players?

Sasko says the Badlands are a kind of "dead, dried-out space" that players will be able to traverse with a range of different vehicles. The district surrounds the whole of Night City and contains its own mini-settlements in which people live. The Nomads, the gang inhabiting the Badlands, roam the area in convoys made out of different cars and other vehicles that they've scavenged, and you'll come into contact with them as you explore. The Badlands won't feel the same as the main Night City area; Sasko says the district has been "specifically prepared" to give you a different feeling to exploring the heady urban environment of Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on November 19th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It's CD Projekt Red's first major project after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and represents what the team considers to be significant growth on the part of its writers and designers. The game has been subject to numerous delays, but CD Projekt Red is saying the new November date is final.
