The boom of collaborations between several Japanese businesses and the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime continues and a brand new one has been announced by the popular convenience store chain Lawson.
The collaboration, which starts on March 21, is centered around new art featuring popular androids 2B and 9S in new costumes carrying Lawson's blue and white colors, and it includes several items.
First of all, you can purchase special NieR: Automata American Soft Cookies (that's what chocolate chip cookies are often called in Japan) by popular brand Mr. Ito displaying 2B prominently on the package and including one 11 stickers portraying the game and anime's characters.
Secondly, by purchasing two cans of Red Bull you get one of five clear files portraying 2B and 9S. In case you're not familiar with this, clear files are likely the most popular merchandise item you can find in Japan.
On top of that, the @Loppi-HMV&Books online shopping service will have a series of items including a 600x350 mm gaming mat, a B2 Tapestry, a set of two acrylic stands, and a tote bag decorated with can badges.
Last, but not least, instant lottery tickets will be available for sale letting you win prizes including two different 2B figures, a black box coin bank, glasses, clear files, and rubber smartphone straps.
As usual, it's very likely that all the items portrayed here won't be sold outside of Japan unless you find a way to purchase them remotely and import them, which is certainly possible albeit usually not cheap.
NieR: Automata is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. While we don't have specific information for now, its developers seem rather confident that another NieR game will be coming at some point.
If you want to see similar collaborations, you can check out one with a chain of public baths and the pop-up stores at the Loft department stores.
