Today Aniplex announced that we'll have to wait a bit longer to watch the upcoming episodes of the highly praised NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime.
According to the announcement made on social media, the broadcast of episode 9 and beyond will be postponed due to the impact of COVID-19 on production. This already happened before with episode 4.
We hear that further information on the broadcast schedule will be provided via the game's official website and social media down the line. At the moment, there is no information on when the next episode will be aired.
That being said, episode 8 "aji wo [K]utta?" has been regularly released today, so you won't be left completely without your NieR: Automata fix at least in the immediate.

The NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime is arguably one of the best adaptation of a video game that we've seen in a while. In the west, it's distributed by Crunchyroll.
Not only it's highly-appreciated by the fans, but it also sparked several collaborations in Japan, including one with the convenience store chain Lawson, one with a chain of public baths, and the pop-up stores at the Loft department stores.
NieR: Automata is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. While we don't have specific information for now, its developers seem rather confident that another NieR game will be coming at some point.
