NHL 94 Rewind has been confirmed as a pre-order bonus for people who buy NHL 21 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
We're getting close to the launch of NHL 21 for PS4 and Xbox One, and EA Sports has thrown in a surprising pre-order bonus: NHL 94 Rewind. This isn't just a straight port of a game from the 90s, mind — this revival will feature the teams and rosters of the modern era.
The original NHL 94 was pretty popular in its heydey. Believe it or not, it continues to have an audience today thanks to fan-run efforts to keep the game alive with a league, tournaments, and modern enhancements through ROM Hacks. Now, NHL 94 Rewind will give this game an official revival — but there are still a lot of unanswered questions.
Is NHL 94 Rewind a Pre-Order Exclusive?
There are several questions that we don't yet know the answer to. The game's announcement notes that people who pre-order NHL 21 will be able to play the NHL 94 remaster later in October, but that doesn't paint the clearest picture.
As noted on Reddit, there are three major questions that we don't yet know the answer to. Will NHL 94 Rewind be a pre-order exclusive or will it get a standalone release? How will players get their copy of the game? Will it have online multiplayer or will it be local multiplayer only? When is the NHL 94 Rewind Release Date?
The NHL 94 Rewind release date will be October 30, 2020, but players will be able to play NHL 21 well before that. You'll be able to play the next great EA hockey game on the NHL 21 release date of October 16, 2020. For now, you can pre-order NHL 21 via the game's official website.
