Next Mount and Blade 2 Patch Might Cause Some Problems

The next Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord patch might be causing some problems when it launches in the near future, although the changes that have been made are ultimately for easier future development.

In a series of forum profile comments, a developer going by the name of "mexxico" commented on a "code refactor" that has been done in the last few weeks. The code refactor was announced back in mid-June and aimed to improve the overall stability of the game.

So, that brings us to where we are at right now, but what about our plans moving forward? Well, we are currently working on quite a large code refactor that should make for an improvement to the underlying code of the game in the long run, but unfortunately, it is taking quite a bit of our attention right now. However, with that being said, work on the next updates to the main and beta branches are underway and we hope to release those very soon!

Since then, mexxico has commented on the situation. He doesn't seem to feel that a code refactor was the best strategy when the game is 90% complete, but what's done is done.

According to him, 40–50 bugs have been fixed over the last few weeks in this new code branch. However, he's concerned about some of the bugs that might not yet have been caught by the QA team. Whenever this next patch drops, you may have to wait a little while before the game is truly in a playable state.

When is the Next Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord Patch Launching?

When will you be able to play this next Bannerlord patch? Unfortunately, the developers have not yet stated when it's going to go live.

That said, we can glean some clues from mexxico's commentary on his forum profile. It seems that we're getting pretty close to the launch of the next patch, so we will hopefully be seeing something in the next few weeks.

Bear in mind, of course, that these code changes might cause some issues with the game. I think it's reasonable to expect there to be some hotfixes released after this patch, but we can't say for sure what kind of problems will crop up in the retail release. For now, you can buy Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord on Steam Early Access for $49.99 or your regional equivalent.

Are you looking forward to the next Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord patch? Do you think the devs can squash most of the bugs before launching? Let us know in the comments below!
