The next free Epic Games Store games have been announced. Nuclear Throne and RUINER will be made available at no cost starting on November 7, 2019.

For the better part of a year, the Epic Games Store has been giving away one or more free games every week or two. The new rotation has been announced and includes Reikon Games' and Devolver Digital's RUINER along with Vlambeer's Nuclear Throne.

In Nuclear Throne, players hop into a top-down twin-stick shooter in a post-apocalyptic setting. This isn't a bunch of humans running around, mind — mankind is long dead, and only mutants and horrible monsters remain on the planet. Blast enemies to bits and collect radiation to mutate new abilities (and the occasional new limb).

Ruiner, meanwhile, is also a twin-stick shooter of sorts from an isometric perspective. Set in a dystopian future, you're controlling a cyberneticall enhanced nutjob who's trying to find his brother with the help of a hacker. Oh, and you get to chop up a bunch of corrupt government soldiers to bits with cool powers.

While Nuclear Throne and RUINER are the next free Epic Games Store games, you should be turning your eye towards what you can get right now.

Get Costume Quest and SOMA Before the Next Free Epic Games Store Games Arrive

This week's offerings are appropriately-spooky Costume Quest and SOMA.

Costume Quest is a role-playing game originally created eight years ago by Double Fine Productions for the Xbox 360. This colorful game has a band of trick-or-treaters work their way through three lovely neighborhoods in search of candy and adventure.

SOMA, meanwhile, is less adorable and more terrifying. Created by Frictional Games — those are the people who made Amnesia: The Dark Descent, FYI — it sticks you in the underwater facility PATHOS-II. Did I mention that the machines are starting to go crazy? Yeah, have fun with that.

You can grab Costume Quest and SOMA until November 7, 2019, on the Epic Games Store. After that, the next free Epic Games Store games Nuclear Throne and RUINER rotate in.
