Observer and Alan Wake's American Nightmare on the Epic Games Store

The next free titles you can claim from the Epic Games Store have been revealed. Starting from October 17th, you'll be able to get psychological thriller Observer and scare-tinged shooter Alan Wake's American Nightmare for free. All you need is an Epic Games Store account and the launcher.

Observer stars Rutger Hauer as Daniel Lazarski, who's one of the titular Observers. Lazarski has the ability to hack into people's minds to interrogate them as well as the ability to perceive his environment with augmented vision. When Lazarski receives a call from his estranged son and finds a body, he's drawn into a dark cyberpunk web of conspiracies and secrets. Observer features plenty of puzzles and lots of cyberpunk-tinged fun if you're a fan of properties like Blade Runner. Check out TechRaptor's review of Observer right here.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare is a spinoff follow-up of 2010's horror shooter Alan Wake. Framed as an episode of in-game TV show Night SpringsAlan Wake's American Nightmare focuses more on combat than its predecessor. The main campaign mode is accompanied by an arcade mode in which Alan can face off against waves of increasingly tough enemies. It's a slightly more action-oriented take on horror than Alan Wake, but it's pretty fun nonetheless.

These games will replace Paradox and Haemimont Games' Surviving Mars as the Epic Games Store's free offerings. Surviving Mars is a city-building management sim set on -you guessed it -Mars. You're in charge of gathering resources, building a base, and generally trying to survive in this inhospitable environment. You can grab Surviving Mars plus its Space Race DLC right now for free from the Epic Games Store. After the free period, Surviving Mars will be available to buy from Epic's storefront for $29.99 and the follow up in the Surviving series, Surviving The Aftermath should be hitting early access there in the near future.
