The upcoming Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo Switch is planning on letting players transfer in their adorable little creatures from the Let's Go games as reported by GameSpot.

Pokémon is a franchise that is still going strong two decades after its introduction. At the moment, Pokémon GO is still chugging along and the handheld games Ultra Sun Ultra Moon are doing nicely. Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! are on the horizon, and the much-awaited console RPG isn't too far away. Have a look at the trailer for the Let's Go games and enjoy the wave of nostalgia:

In an interview with Pokémon: Let's Go Director Junichi Masuda and its Lead Game Environment Designer Kensaku Nabana, Gamespot asked a question that was surely on the minds of Pocket Monster fans both young and old - will you be able to transfer over your creatures from Let's Go to the new game?

"We're definitely always thinking of [the possibility of transferring Pokémon from Let's Go], especially since we've introduced the Pokemon Bank," Mr. Masuda said. They "have plans to find ways to let players use their Pokémon in the next game,", emphasizing that players might be a bit let down if they wouldn't be able to use their favorites in a future title.

Mention was made of the Pokémon Bank, a cloud service that players can subscribe to for the cost of $4.99 a year. It provides 3,000 storage slots for your digital friends and is backward-compatible with most of the games in the series thanks in part to the virtual console offerings of the older titles. While you won't always be able to move your creatures backward, you're generally able to move them forward into the newer games.

The Poké Ball Plus accessory will let you move your monsters between the phone game and the upcoming Let's Go games, function as a controller, and allow you to take your critters with you on the go.

For now, it looks like players will be able to move their favorites from Let's Go to the core RPG - at least if Nintendo pulls off the technical details. Whether or not you'll be able to bring on your buddies from older games via the Pokémon Bank isn't yet known. Here's hoping that they won't pass up that opportunity for players to keep on going with their longtime companions.

There's a lot more to read in that interview, including the fact that special drops may be available in some form through the Mystery Gift system in the Let's Go games. Be sure to check out the full interview for all the details. You might also want to see our Editor-In-Chief's impressions of the Let's Go games from E3. (Spoilers: he thinks they're pretty neat.) The Let's Go titles will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018, and the upcoming core RPG can't come soon enough.

Are you surprised that you may be able to transfer your critters from Let's Go to the upcoming Pokémon RPG on the Switch? What's your oldest creature that you're still using today? Do the new games increase your desire to get the new Nintendo console? Let us know in the comments below!
