Today, New World Interactive, the developers of Insurgency: Sandstorm, has announced that they would be opening a new studio in Calgary, Canada.
After the success of Insurgency: Sandstorm's PC release and in anticipation of its upcoming console release, New World Interactive's new studio 'New World North,' will be open to hiring on May 15 in "all disciplines":
“We are committed to constantly improving ourselves and pushing the boundaries with the experiences we create. With our roots coming from a hobbyist background, it’s been an ongoing challenge for us to centralize our team. Given the company’s newfound success with Insurgency: Sandstorm we have a tremendous opportunity to open a studio and bring together the majority of our team. After careful consideration into where this location should be, we have decided on Calgary, and look forward to growing our team in our new home,” said Jeremy Blum, Founder of New World Interactive. The studio was originally founded in 2010 by the team of the Half-Life 2 mod Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat. New World Interactive's 2014 release of Insurgency was met with success. Together, Insurgency and it's 2016 sequel Day of Infamy sold over 6 million copies on PC.
The creation of New World North is to provide post-launch support for Insurgency: Sandstorm, as well as providing "crucial" development support for an unannounced title.
Quick Take:Cool. As someone who really liked Insurgency and hasn't tried Insurgency: Sandstorm yet, I should really get around to doing that. I've also never really heard anything critical of New World Interactive, either. Their titles are great, their post-launch support is great, they keep in touch with their community, and their games frequently go on steep sales. They really seem to have the pulse of what their community wants, and it is good to see more growth in the gaming industry. Well done.
