After players found ways to dupe gold and items within New World, it looks like Amazon is getting in on the fun, accidentally gifting many players up to 500k gold

Amazon Game Studios is yet again experiencing some problems with its ill-fated MMO. This time, it looks like a New World gold glitch has granted some players upwards of 500,000 gold after a reimbursement update intended to refill company coffers went awry.

What is this fresh New World gold glitch?

Earlier today, Amazon Game Studios rolled out a New World update intended to fix some issues and reimburse companies for war declarations or territory station downgrades. However, it looks as though some players have inadvertently received amounts that were clearly intended for companies. Over on the New World subreddit, players are claiming they've received huge amounts of cash after the update. As you might expect, it looks like the New World economy is once again in dire straits thanks to this mistake.

Yep, it's the New World broken pillar economy joke again. Sorry, but it's the gift that keeps on giving.

We've heard of New World gold dupe glitches before, but this might be the first time Amazon Game Studios has actually caused the economy to crash itself. Remarkably, when confronted with a thread proclaiming the new gold glitch's existence on the New World forums, a community moderator merely responded with the word "Congratulations!". The moderator didn't say they'd passed the issue on to the developers or acknowledge that the gold glitch is even a problem. Amazon has said it's aware of the issue and has put all worlds into maintenance mode in order to fix it, with more information forthcoming as and when.

New World, same old glitches

Unfortunately, this is far from the first major economy- or game-breaking bug New World has encountered. Whether it's glitching that renders players immobile or gold dupe glitches appearing in response to fixes for other glitchesNew World's launch has been fraught with problems. Of course, Amazon has made moves to fix and address these issues, banning exploiters and addressing major bugs in its patches. However, it's starting to feel like new glitches appear with every new update, making New World feel like a sad game of Whac-A-Mole.

It's hard to imagine players sticking around if these major game-breaking bugs continue to occur. It seems like not a day goes by without a group of New World players spotting a glitch that could shatter the economy or the basic loop of the game. We'll bring you more on this as soon as we get it. In the meantime, you can pick up New World via Steam right now, although you may wish to wait until it's stabilized a little (if that day ever comes, of course).
