Indive developer Saturnine Games has shown off a new gameplay trailer and information featuring their latest title, Antipole DX

The game will have players go through several levels of platforming with a special anti-gravity weapon that allows you to walk on ceilings and climb high surfaces. The game itself will focus more on puzzle-solving than standard run and gun gameplay, where you would use your anti-gravity ability to defeat enemies and solve complex platforming puzzles without taking any damage.

The trailer shows off more of Antipole DX, which has been remastered with Stereoscopic 3D for the Nintendo 3DS.

The trailer itself shows off some of the puzzle solving and platforming players will have to contend with, including using bombs and double jumps with the game's anti-gravity mechanic to get through tougher levels.

Other features added to Antipole DX include online leaderboards for speed run enthusiasts, unlockable Miiverse stamps, and support for Off-TV play for the Nintendo Wii U.

Antipole DX is a remake of Antipole, a previous title developed and produced by Saturnine in 2009, which has since been released on the DSiWare, Wii, Xbox Live and the PC. The gameplay is essentially the same as Antipole DX, but the game has been given a graphical makeover to better mimic a Super-Nintendo style 16-bit graphics engine and smoother gameplay controls, while retaining the gameplay mechanics of Antipole as much as possible.

The new game will be released for the 3DS and Nintendo Wii eShops later this year.

Quick Take

I find the design and mechanics of Antipole DX to be quite interesting and impressive. It seems like a very simple game to figure out, but like a good platformer, a hard game to master with difficult jumps and puzzles to get through. Plus the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS need more indie titles at this stage in the game, especially with the rumors that the Nintendo NX will be out within a year at this point.
