New Nintendo Switch June 2021 reported leak cover

New Nintendo Switch pre-orders are reportedly going live later this week following an anticipated — but not yet announced —  Nintendo Direct presentation in advance of E3 2021.

Rumors and reports of a new Nintendo Switch console have been floating around as early as January 2020. Several analysts predicted that the upgraded version of Nintendo's hybrid handheld console would have support for 4K gaming right out of the box — a big step up from the 720p resolution that most Switch games run at. Subsequent reporting later in 2020 echoed these statements, and things have only picked up in intensity since then.

Now, @CentroLeaks reports that it has seen a retailer listing for a new version of the Nintendo Switch console that has long been rumored to be in development. This adds to a tweet (via Erik Kain)that purported to show a screenshot of a placeholder store listing for the "New Nintendo Switch Pro" on Amazon Mexico, although skepticism is warranted with such a screenshot — as some of the replies show, it's not too difficult to fake a screenshot like this.

That's not all, though — XboxEra.com's co-founder says that a Nintendo Direct presentation is scheduled for this Thursday which will announce the new console. If this is indeed on the way, that would mean that Nintendo would be announcing the launch of its new console before E3 2021 even begins properly. According to him, however, this unannounced Nintendo Direct has been pushed back before and there is the possibility that it can be delayed again.

When is the New Nintendo Switch Reveal Date?

The New Nintendo Switch reveal date will be June 4, 2021, according to @CentroLeaks. The console should start popping up on retailers following a new Nintendo Direct presentation on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

Update (06/01/21, 8:48 PM EST) – @CentroLeaks says in a tweet that it has a second retail listing with June 30, 2021, as the reveal date, although it belives that this second listing may just be a placeholder. That certainly makes sense; it would be somewhat unusual to reveal a console on a Wednesday.

Bear in mind, there are no guarantees — while we've seen plenty of rumors and reports, there hasn't been anything in the way of hard confirmation. We may have already seen the announcement delayed at least once and there's always the possibility that it could happen again.

French Retail Listing for Nintendo Switch Pro Spotted

Update (06/02/21, 2:58 PM) – French gaming site Nintend'Alerts has revealed (via ResetEra) a pair of images claimed to be from a retailer called Boulanger, one of which appears to show the retail backend. These images list the "Nintendo Switch Pro" console at a price of €399.00, which would put the price of the New Nintendo Switch at  around $499.99 / £349.99 with currency conversions.

We can't say for certain if these images are genuine; there are no references to the Nintendo Switch Pro or the listed product numbers on Boulanger's website at the time of this update. It's also possible that the price may just be a placeholder or that this could be the product page for a bundle with games.

Do you think we'll really see the reveal of the New Nintendo Switch (or whatever it may be called) later this week? If the console actually does get revealed, do you think you'll be able to purchase one? Let us know in the comments below!
