New Mod Allows Multiplayer Co-Op in GTA V

Grand Theft Auto V

If you've been jonesing to play GTA V's story mode with your buddies, you don't need to look any further! A new mod has come out that allows you and your friends to each play one of the main characters in Rockstar's open-world crime game, enabling you to play the game's campaign in co-op mode.

The mod, made by a modder called Guadmaz, allows you to sync your worlds up via an external server, which means that the entire world (including NPC's) will be shared with all the people in the session. Installing the mod is pretty simple and just needs a couple of script extenders to work. It is also possible to run this mod on a dedicated server if you want more control over how the game behaves.

Guadmaz has made this mod available to anyone who wants to give it a go, but is quick to note that the mod may contain some glitches because it is still in early development. Since this game is not tied in any way to the GTA Online portion of the game, it should be safe to use it without being banned from the official servers. For a full tutorial as well as updated changelogs you can go to the mod's page over at GTA 5 Mods.

Quick Take

This is really cool. I wasn't really all that much into the official GTA Online stuff because of the way Rockstar has set it up. This mod, however, will make the most fun (in my opinion of course) portion of the game available to me and my friends, so this may just yet give me a reason to reinstall the game and give it a go! Hopefully the dev will continue to develop this further so it becomes one of those mods that is considered to be absolutely essential.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
