Some new Minecraft Nether music has arrived in the newest Snapshot release and there's a special surprise: the new tunes are from the mind of Celeste composer Lena Raine.

The news came via the latest patch notes for the 20w15a snapshot. There are three new tunes being added in total:

  • "Rubedo" will be played in the Nether Wastes
  • "Chrysopoeia" will be played in Crimson Forests
  • "So Below" will be played in Soulsand Valleys and in Basalt Deltas

Aside from this very cool news, Lena Raine had some things to say about these new musical creations.

"One of the primary instruments in Minecraft is the piano, and so one of my challenges to myself was to see how far I could push the sound of the piano until it resembled other things entirely–again, that alchemical process," she said. "I wanted each piece to feel like a progression of emotions, or a journey from place to place within this other world. There's a degree of beauty to the Nether, but it is also terrifying in both its details and scale."

Ms. Raine's past work includes composing music for Guild Wars 2Celeste, and Steven Universe: The Movie.

The Minecraft Nether music is far from the only new additions, mind. Also arriving in this snapshot are "Basalt Deltas", a new biome that has a lar ge amount of basalt  columns. Magma Cubes will spawn very frequently here, and these deltas will also feature a new block called "Blackstone".

How Do I Get the New Minecraft Nether Music?

If you're curious about hearing this new Minecraft Nether music, well, it's a bit tough to get it right now. For starters, this music has been added to a snapshot build; that means that only the Java version players will be able to get it for now.

To listen to the cool new tunes, you'll have to boot up your Minecraft launcher. From there, you need to select the 20W15A snapshot (or any of the ones after that) to experience this latest batch of content. You can see everything that's arrived in the latest build via the 20W15A patch notes.

What do you think of the Celeste composer cooking up some new Minecraft Nether music? Are you happy with the progress of the Nether update? Let us know in the comments below!
