Some new Marvel's Avengers details have been revealed, giving us the skinny on the game's multiplayer gameplay, cosmetics, and more.
A post on the PlayStation blog and a game overview video have been simultaneously released, telling us some more about what we can expect from this upcoming game from Crystal Dynamics. Suffice it to say, Crystal Dynamics have their eyes on the long haul with this one.
New Marvel's Avengers Details About Multiplayer
Let's start with the multiplayer gameplay. Each of the Avengers is going to have their own style, creating what is being called "asymmetrical co-op". Each Avenger will have their strengths and weaknesses, and it's up to the players to use them in a complementary fashion.
You can get right into multiplayer gameplay if you don't want to play the campaign at first; all you have to do is complete the "A-Day" battle at the beginning of the game. One important note is that you'll face spoilers if you decided to skip the campaign in this fashion.
There will be two types of missions: Hero Missions and Warzone Missions. Hero Missions are single-player only and part of the campaign meant as a method to highlight a specific character. Warzone Missions, on the other hand, can be played by yourself or with a total of four other players as any of the heroes available in your roster.
You'll be able to create specialized builds for every character, and there's no need to worry about unnecessary grinding — your progress will carry over between the game modes. One question does remain, though — do these new Marvel's Avengers details address post-launch content? In a word, yes.
Cosmetics Will Be Cosmetic
A game of this style can make a boatload of money from selling skins for the heroes, but Crystal Dynamics wants to make sure that there aren't going to be any game-breaking powers that you can buy with money. According to them, alternate costumes will simply be different fashion styles, more or less.
You won't have to pay for new heroes, either. While they're hesitant to mention how many heroes we're getting in the new Marvel's Avengers details, we at least know that they'll be arriving as a free update.
You'll be able to get your hands on Marvel's Avengers when it launches for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on May 15, 2020. In the meantime, check out the Game Overview video below to learn more!
