Dragon Quest Builders

Yesterday during a Square Enix livestream a whole lot of new information about the upcoming Dragon Quest Builders was revealed. Dragon Quest Builders will be releasing in Japan on the 28th of January for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

During the time playing this game there will be multiple continents that you are able to explore. Over the course of story the first continent is meant to take 10 hours, while the second continent is meant to take even longer. There has been no word on exactly how many different continents there will be in the game though.

The way that the 'builders' part will come into Dragon Quest Builders is after you complete the first continent. Once completed you will gain access to the Free Build mode. In this mode you can build freely using various building blocks or even use blueprints that you collect throughout the game. There will also be a feature implemented so that if there is a was to save and upload any buildings that you are particularly proud of. The size of the buildings that you will be limited to are 24 x 24 x 16 blocks. It is still unknown the relative dimensions of any of the continents.

This upload feature also means that a building that someone uploads from the PlayStation 4 version of the game can be downloaded onto the PlayStation Vita or PlayStation 3 version. This cross play is a great way to have almost limitless prefabs available for those who just wish to use premade buildings in their own world while also allow people who are master builders to share their creations with the world.

Sadly though one announcement that did not come out of the live stream was whether the game would be coming to the West or not.

If you feel that you've missed out and want to see all of the Japanese game play then you can watch this video.
