A new Godfall Valorplate has been revealed in a developer interview by video game streamer and entertainer Arekkz. If you're wondering whether or not there will be microtransactions or if this is a live service game, you'll be happy to hear some of the answers revealed today. The big news, however, is a first look at the newly-revealed Hinterclaw Valorplate.

Let's kick things off with the video in question: check out Arekkz's exclusive first look at the new Godfall Valorplate and a developer interview with Technical Producer Richard Heyne.

What is the new Godfall Valorplate and How Do They Work?

One important question is how the game's Valorplates work. In a sense, they more or less serve as the game's classes. You can't mix and match them or anything like that. Valorplates won't determine your moves, either — that's decided by the weapon you're wielding.

The biggest bit of news, however, is the reveal of a new Godfall Valorplate on Arekkz's channel. The Hinterclaw Valorplate is considered one of the personal favorites of Richard Heyne and for a very good reason: it's an absurdly aggressive class.

The Hinterclaw is centered on using critical strikes to effect massive damage on enemies. Its passive ability increases crit chance by 10%, but it's ultimate ability via the Archon Bar allows you to summon three allies to fight alongside you.

As for its active ability, it can increase your crit chance to 30% and it increases your crit damage by 20% for every enemy you kill during Archon Mode up to a maximum of 200% boost. Essentially, this new Godfall Valorplate is a hyper-aggressive class that can do a heck of a lot of damage.

Are There Godfall Microtransactions? Is It a Live Service Game?

Another concern with games of this style is whether or not there are any microtransactions. Will you need to connect to a server to play?

"We don't consider it a [game as a service], there are no microtransactions in Godfall," the game's Technical Producer Richard Heyne answered succinctly. "But we are planning that there is plenty of content for the player to dig into once Macros is defeated, so to speak."

How Does Loot Work?

A big driver of games like this is the loot. Godfall won't exclusively use a purely random system or dedicated drops from specific enemies. Instead, it's going for a mix of both.

"[...] As far as loot, first and foremost, it's a mix," Heyne explained. "There's a mix of random loot that's dropped by enemies and then loot rewards for completing key campaign beats, story missions, hunt missions, side missions, etcetera."

"And we wanted to have a mix because we didn't want to downplay those story beats," he added." I think something that can be disheartening as a player is when you defeat this big epic boss and the loot or the reward that you get... it feels less powerful than a random drop that you might have gotten from an enemy."

"So we didn't want it to be that when you defeat this enemy, you can only get one drop. We wanted there to be some randomness."

Is There Godfall Endgame Content?

One burning question with games like these is what you can do at the end. If you're concerned about the game running out of steam after you beat the ultimate boss, worry not — there will still be plenty for players to do.

"So there is an experience you can complete," explained Godfall's Technical Producer Richard Heyne. "There's a campaign just like you highlighted."

"You're ascending the Skybreaker monolith to defeat Macros, to defeat the mad god. Right?" Heyne continued. "And as you do so, you're venturing through the different elemental realms. Earth, water, etcetera. And that is a finite experience, as you're going up the Skybreaker Monolith. That being said, there is replayable content, there is endgame content, and there is more for the player to explore and revisit once they have completed their ascent of the Skybreaker Monolith.

These are just some of the highlights of Arekkz's interview with Richard Heyne. If you're interested in learning more about Godfall, it's well worth watching the whole interview on YouTube.
