New Forza Motorsport Promises "Generational Leap"; 2023 Release Window Loses the "Spring"

Can't wait to play the new Forza Motorsport? well, you'll have to wait, as the 2023 release window has lost the "spring." On the other hand, the racing game for Xbox Series X|S and PC promises a "generational leap in fidelity, immersion, and realism" 👀

Today, during Microsoft's Developer Direct livestream, the house of Xbox had a lot to reveal about the upcoming Forza Motorsport racing game.

First of all, there has been a slight change in the release window. It was previously "spring 2023" but now the "spring" is gone and it's just 2023. While the word "delay" has not been uttered, I'd say it was pretty much implied.

That being said, the developers at Turn 10 Studios promise a "generational leap in fidelity, immersion, and realism." They have used a spectrophotometer to capture multiple data points of light behavior on surfaces, implementing a "more realistic light response across colors, metal flake, and gloss levels."

Cars will also come with context-aware damage and dirt buildup in recesses and alcoves, with patterns claimed to be authentic to each vehicle. Speaking of claims, Turn 10 says that the advancements made in physics simulation are greater than Forza Motorsport 5, 6, and 7 combined.

Speaking of rides, the game will include 500 cars with more than 800 upgrades available. Over 100 of these cars are new to the Forza franchise. 20 environments including five that are completely new to the series will be included at launch, with multiple track setups for each. Among the new ones, we have the first in South Africa – Kyalami.

On the audio side, Forza Motorsport will come with goodies like improved tire and suspension sounds, exhausts and turbos that change as they’re modified to sound like their real-world counterparts, and region-specific announcers.

The game promises to render its environments in 4k resolution and 60 frames-per-second with real-time ray tracing enabled on the track, fully dynamic time of day and weather, wet track surfaces, dynamic temperatures, and rubbering in effect.

Of course, we'll be able to enjoy both online racing and a "car-building focused" single-player career.
