During today's Level-5 showcase, we got some more information about the upcoming Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. The game will hew fairly closely to the formula of the original Fantasy Life on 3DS, but will contain some fun and interesting tweaks to the formula as well.

Fantasy Life i was originally revealed during February's Nintendo Direct, but we're now getting some more info about it. In today's showcase, Level-5 introduced us once again to the world of Reveria, the setting in which Fantasy Life takes place. This time around, you're trying to solve two mysteries: that of the titular "girl who steals time", and that of a dragon soaring through the skies. You can check out the new trailer for Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time (which is in Japanese, but it'll give you an idea of what's coming) right here.

Much like the original Fantasy Life, you'll get the chance to choose between various different jobs, or "lives", in Fantasy Life i. These include the sword and shield-wielding paladin, the lumberjack, and the chef, among others. How you interact with the island on which the game takes place is up to you; will you choose the life of a warrior or would you prefer to kick back and chop some wood instead?

New features have been introduced to the Fantasy Life formula as well. You'll be able to terraform your island to get it looking exactly how you want it, as well as building up your town to your specifications. That's in addition to kitting out interiors or even just relaxing on a swing; it's all about how you want to live your "fantasy life", so to speak.

If you choose to engage with the game's central adventure, then you'll be interacting with a girl who can send you back and forth through time. You'll visit the island in both the past and the present in order to figure out the mysteries that lie at its center. Popular Fantasy Life characters will return to join you on your journey as well.

If you're wondering what the "i" in Fantasy Life i refers to, according to Level-5, it has four meanings. The first is "island", since that's where the game takes place. The second is "internet", because the game supports online multiplayer, and the third is "individual", because it's all about what you personally want to do. The fourth is apparently a secret, but we'll likely find out closer to the game's release.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is scheduled for a worldwide release on Nintendo Switch sometime this year.
