A new Elder Scrolls board game is on the way from Chip Theory Games. That's pretty great news for tabletop fans, but there's also a downside — you're going to be waiting a while before you hear anything about it.

Chip Theory Games has quite a few interesting titles under its belt. We got to swing by their booth at 2019's UK Games Expo to check out their then-upcoming title Cloudspires along with the other games they had on offer. Now, they'll be making a brand-new tabletop game based on The Elder Scrolls franchise!

What Will the New Elder Scrolls Board Game Be Like?

Unfortunately, we don't have much in the way of details about this new Elder Scrolls board game. That said, we can take a glance at Chip Theory Games' previous releases (a number of which you can see in the image above) to get an idea of what we might get.

The self-described "neoprene and poker chip aficionados" of Chip Theory Games certainly love to cook up complex titles with interesting pieces — there are few bland rectangular boards or cheap plastic tokens in their games. If they continue to use this same style of design, we could end up with a pretty complex tabletop game with a lot of moving parts. Then again, there's something special about keeping it simple, too, and Chip Theory Games certainly can pack a lot of fun in a compact package.

One should keep in mind that this isn't the first board game for The Elder Scrolls; we reviewed The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms last year and Modiphius has a board game of its own based on The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim coming out in the near future. Soon, there will be a third title in the bunch!

Speculation aside, there isn't much more to tell about this new Elder Scrolls board game; Chip Theory Games' tweet says that we can expect more info sometime in 2022. You can sign up to get notified of new information on the game's official website.

What do you think Chip Theory Games' Elder Scrolls game will be like? What's your favorite game in The Elder Scrolls franchise? Let us know in the comments below!
