A new entry in the Diablo series has been confirmed by Blizzard.
A listing for an dungeon artist on Blizzard's career page confirms the game is being worked on.
"The minions of Hell are growing stronger." reads the listing. "We're working on a new, unannounced Diablo project. Are you a skilled Dungeon Artist? Come work with us, and together we will build something exceptional."
The listing specifically mentions work directly on dungeon design with a focus on "composition, detail and mood, while ensuring that gameplay space is readable." It also implies multiple environments and dungeons will be made for the game.
This is slated to be a new entry in the Diablo franchise and not a long-rumored port of Diablo III to the Nintendo Switch.
The Diablo franchise was first released back in 1997 by Blizzard and was celebrated for its fast-paced hack and slash gameplay. The franchise has spawned two sequels, Diablo II and Diablo III, with the third title being supported since 2012.
At this time, nothing has been confirmed by Blizzard regarding Diablo III outside of this job listing.
Quick ThoughtsThe Diablo games are probably the best dungeon crawlers on the market today, and it's good and, well, pretty obvious that Blizzard will continue the franchise. Diablo III has been massively successful despite a rocky start in 2012, and after six years on the market, a new game in the works is all but guaranteed.
This, of course, doesn't address the rumors of Diablo III on the Nintendo Switch, but perhaps it doesn't really matter if the game will come to the Switch or not. Regardless, more Diablo on the way is only a good thing for fans of the franchise.
