Fallout 76

Fallout 76 has come a long way since its release a little over a year ago in November 2018. Bethesda Softworks previously teased new characters in trailers and announcements, namely Duchess and Mort. The Wastelanders update brings two new characters and The Wayward area, where both veteran Vault dwellers and newbies will have things to do and accomplish.

The Wayward, "a fledgling watering hole not far from the Overseer’s C.A.M.P. in the Forest" as the official statement describes it, is where you always find Duchess and Mort. The latter can lend a helping hand whenever you need more information on the area, while Duchess needs your aid in identifying why some suspicious visitors are coming her way "asking some very pointed questions and acting aggressively."

Duchess and Mort aren't the only two new NPCs coming to Fallout 76 in the Wastelanders update, as the studio wants to make Appalachia feel more alive. However, none of them will affect the main storyline directly, as you will mostly notice them "in new encounters, in combat, encampments, and even as they go about their daily lives."

This is not the only news though. Bethesda previously mentioned Fallout 76 will finally come to Valve's Steam platform in 2019. However, since we are approaching the end of December, fans understandably started questioning if it will happen during this year after all. The studio addressed the topic and admitted they are pushing Fallout 76's Steam release closer to the Wastelanders update release in 2020.

"Earlier this year, we had announced that Fallout 76 would be coming to Steam in 2019. Since then, we’ve received questions from some of you who are curious about when this will happen. Our launch on Steam is still on the way, but we’ve moved it closer to Wastelanders release in 2020. We don’t have additional details to share on this right now, but we will let you know as soon as we do."

The new year looks promising for Fallout 76 with new content and a new platform for PC players to buy the game from. What are you most excited for going into 2020?
