Crash Bandicoot 4 It's About Time Stealthy Release

Nowadays, no secret is sacred. Just a few moments ago, a new Crash Bandicoot title called Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time appeared on a Taiwanese rating board. It's interesting that this would be named the 4th title in the rebooted series as the original 4th game was Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex. It seems this step is to further differentiate the remade N*Sane Trilogy with the original PS1 titles.

It was first rumored that a new Crash Bandicoot title was in the works a few weeks ago when a series of new Crash related merchandise began appearing at online retailers. While the majority of the merch could just be written off as stylized renditions of the characters the completely unique designs to some like Tawna began tipping off internet sleuths. The fires were stoked once again when a few days ago know Crash Bandicoot fans online began receiving packaged from "their favorite bandicoot" that consisted of a jigsaw puzzle of a mask.

This isn't the first time that this marketing strategy has been used for the title as developer Toys for Bob had a similarly related influencer viral marketing strategy with Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will be coming not only to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One though as the marketing on the box art is for the upcoming Xbox Series X as well. This means that Crash's latest installment will likely hop generations.

It was expected of the community that with the early influencer marketing and the continual tease for a never before announced AAA title that we would see confirmation of this new Crash Bandicoot at the IGN Summer of Gaming event that's being held on the 22nd in conjunction with The Game Awards. Whether this is the case or not we'll just have to wait and see.

What do you think of a new Crash Bandicoot game? Do you think it's doing a disservice to Wrath of Cortex? Are you just excited to see more of your favorite marsupial?
