Today NCSoft was in attendance at GDC to reveal a new trailer of one of the publisher's upcoming New IPs, code-named Project M.
The trailer showcases the tech used but NCSoft to develop the game, including its Digital Humans, AI-powered text-to-speech synthesis to translate text into natural speech that can reflect a certain person's voice, while voice-to-face tech simulates facial expressions and lip sync.
The trailer was presented by a digital human version of NCSoft’s own chief creative officer Taekjin Kim.
Project M runs in Unreal Engine 5 and it appears to be an interactive movie-slash-action adventure game similar to what you would expect from Quantic Dream, reminiscent of Detroit: Become Human and Beyond: Two Souls. Not much is known about it, including release windows and platforms (besides the fact that it's coming for consoles), but we already saw a previous trailer back in June 2022.
Here's how the developer briefly describes the game and its world:
Project M’s world comprises of informational particles, and the players can simulate the momentarily provided time and space. The core gameplay is designed to expand and change the story with the information the player obtains throughout their play.
