Update (09/17/21, 7:21 PM) - The problems with NBA 2K22 My Career servers on PS5 and Xbox Series X have been resolved after a patch was deployed to fix the issue.

The NBA 2K22 update announced on Twitter resolves the issue where players were unable to progress in certain MyCareer storylines; the patch also includes several stability improvements. Further fixes will arrive in an upcoming patch scheduled for next week.

Our original story continues below.

It looks like NBA 2K22 MyCareer servers are having some problems, preventing players from progressing with their custom characters in this basketball game on PC and consoles.

It's been a pretty good year for sports games with the announcement that EA Sports College Football will be making a return. Naturally, all of the major franchises have new entries, too. NBA 2K22 is the newest game in the NBA 2K franchise and it's been doing about as well as expected. Unfortunately, it looks like the latest update may have messed something up behind the scenes, and now players are having problems playing MyCareer mode.

The Problem with NBA 2K22 MyCareer Servers (and How to Fix It)

Something is definitely wrong with the NBA 2K22 MyCareer servers based on errors that players have reported on Reddit (two of which you can see above). These problems were confirmed by a tweet that came out from 2K Support earlier today.

"We’re currently investigating reports of MyCAREER stability/connections in #NBA2K22," read the tweet from 2K Support.

As this Reddit submission shows, dozens of players are reporting problems with the game. Many of the issues are related to the MyCareer mode, suggesting that the NBA2K22 MyCareer servers may be having problems. Other players are reporting more general issues such as slower performance or a total inability to load the game.

2K Support is currently investigating the issue, but a user on Reddit may have found a workaround for the problem.

"I have a friend that was running into a lot of issues last night when trying to load up his MyCareer (not sure if it's the same one you're experiencing)," began a Reddit comment from /u/BodaciousSalacious. "He said he spent a couple of hours trying to figure out how to solve it. He found one guy on Youtube with the same issue who fixed it by loading into MyTeam, opened up all of his packs, and then opened up MyCareer again and it worked. Might be worth trying out."

Server stability has been a bit of an issue with sports games this year. Back in February, FIFA 21 had to temporarily disable FUT matches. Then, the FIFA 21 servers ended up having problems over the July 4th holiday weekend.

Unfortunately, there's no clear explanation for the problem. /u/BodaciousSalacious' fix might tide you over for now, but it might not work for everyone. Hopefully, 2K Support will be able to get this problem fixed before it ruins the weekend for some hopeful players. You can buy NBA 2K22 for PC and consoles starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent.
