Publisher and developer 2K has announced that NBA 2K21 will have a next-generation version of "The Park" called "The City", which is a map much bigger than previous Neighborhoods. It houses four distinct boroughs that will be controlled by four rival Affiliations. They are:

  • North Side Nights
  • South City Vipers
  • Beasts of the East
  • Western Wildcats

How will The City be run? Players will be able to use things like Player Rep by playing Basketball in their own home court. There's also Rival Day Conquest, where rep-earning restrictions are removed for the last two weeks of every Mayor term and will end with an Affiliation being crowned and running The City. This occurs after Rival Day Championship, where teams battle head-to-head to decide the ultimate winner.

What else happens in The City? Well, the "core components" of The City are as follows:

  • Rookieville: where every player begins their NBA 2K21 City journey. Once the player plays to a certain level, the gates of the City will open.
  • Boroughs: Split into four, it is where the four Affiliations have dedicated space. They all have a unique Warehouse and basketball court.
  • Event Center: A brand new addition, the Event Center is where Events will be held, and intra-Affiliation events will be held as well.
  • Garage Hoops: Small courts sprinkled throughout The City, where 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and HORSE (along with other game types) can be played.
  • People of the City: These are quest/objective giving NPC's. Every 4-6 weeks, new quests and objectives will be added, and they will be people with colored exclamation points over their heads.
  • Gatorade Training Facility: A two-floor facility where players can train. The first floor will allow players to train and "beef up" their abilities, while the second floor has Rental Courts to play games with friends and other ballers.
  • Special Courts: Non-affiliated courts where 4v4 and 5v5 games can be played.
  • Fire Ball: When a team wins 10 games in a row on Affiliation courts, the ball used in-game will be on fire and will stay on fire until the team loses.
  • Pink Diamond Plaza: An new court design for the next-gen version of NBA 2K21 located in the heart of The City.
  • Apparel Stores: Buy apparel from Nike, Jordan brand, adidas, Under Armour, Puma, and more.

NBA 2K21 is already available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, and it will be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 12. Be sure to also check out the full courtside report on NBA 2K21's official website.
