A new NBA 2K20 update has arrived and this one has a very special piece of content. A new free agent is being added to the game, but this isn't just another basketball hopeful — it's William Floyd, an enthusiastic basketball fan who's joining the roster thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Check out William Floyd's story in the promotional video released alongside today's update:

"When we learned about William’s wish to visit 2K, the whole team was thrilled," said 2K's Ronnie Singh in a press release. "Learning about his journey was really humbling, and we wanted to find a way to make William’s wish come true in the biggest way possible. We couldn’t think of a better way to do that than bringing his passion to life in-game and giving millions of NBA 2K fans around the world the chance to enjoy William’s player model.”

William, of course, was over the moon about being turned into a playable character. The process was done using 140 motion capture cameras to record every detail of his movement to make a highly-detailed model. His mom was surprised at how much effort 2K put into making this wish happen.

"The cool thing is that 2K took what could have been a great wish and brought it to a level that we never expected," his mother Julie said. "They treated him – and all of us – like royalty and were so interested in everything William had to offer them. It was absolutely unbelievable."

William Floyd was diagnosed with a genetic disorder that causes heart problems and muscle weakness. He generally can't play sports with the other kids his age, so he enjoys his passion for basketball through video games. Now, William is immortalized in one of his favorite games forever.
