Naraka Bladepoint

Revealed at this year's The Game Awards, Naraka: Bladepoint is the newest game from publisher Netease, and looks to be an action-centric take on the Souls-like genre with a fast and brutal gameplay style in an online multiplayer package.

Naraka: Bladepoint will feature an accessible but deep beginner-friendly movement and combat gameplay style and what developer 24 Entertainment has dubbed an “Aim-at-whatever-you-want” grappling hook mechanic that's shown off briefly in the trailer below. At first glance Naraka: Bladepoint looks like it may bring a pretty fun take to what's looking to be an online multiplayer combat-centric title.

Information on Naraka: Bladepoint hints that it may be an online-only game as well, and going off the publisher's history this wouldn’t be too surprising. While Netease doesn't have the best reputation, due to being Chinese and their work with Blizzard in regards to Diablo Immortal and managing Blizzard's Chinese social media, this could be a chance to redeem themselves in the public's eyes, although the cries in Twitch chat of Free Hong Kong during the announcement hint that may be difficult for the publisher.

While light on details, it seems most similar to Sekiro: Shadow Dies Twice with its eastern aesthetic, and Souls-like combat. It features blocking and parrying, without any dedicated defense button, instead relying purely on timing for triggering defensive moves. We don't have any release date other than a loose 2020 window, and no idea what platforms it will release for beyond PC.

“In Naraka: Bladepoint, players will feel every attack and utilize everything in their skillset and armory to achieve victory”, said Ray, Producer, Naraka: Bladepoint. “Our teams have created something visually stunning and instantly appealing to fans of multiplayer online combat, and we can’t wait to share more details on Naraka: Bladepoint in early in 2020.”

You can check it out here on Steam.
