The Myst remake that originally launched on Oculus Quest last year is now headed to Xbox consoles and PC. It'll be available via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG on the latter, and there's also some good news for Game Pass subscribers.

When is the Myst Xbox and PC release coming?

You'll be able to play Myst on Xbox and PC starting from August 26th, which is a little over a week away. It'll be available on both the Xbox Series X|S line of consoles and the Xbox One, so if you haven't managed to snag a next-gen machine yet, you won't be left out. The remake was originally launched for the Oculus Quest series of VR headsets, so this marks the first time it's been playable on non-VR devices.

Myst reimagines the enigmatic environments of the 1993 original for modern devices.

As it's a remake of the 1993 first-person puzzle classic, Myst retains the gameplay of its forebear. Myst Island is just one of the many Ages you'll visit as you attempt to unravel what's happened and why you've been thrust into the center of this story. The remake comes complete with a range of new accessibility options to help you enjoy Myst, as well as a photo capture feature to help you solve puzzles, new graphics options, and plenty more. This remake has been crafted by Cyan Worlds, developers of the original Myst, so you know there's a pedigree behind it.

Are we getting a Myst Xbox Game Pass release?

Happily, as well as launching on Xbox and PC devices, Myst is also coming to Xbox Game Pass. If you're a subscriber, you'll be able to play it on consoles, cloud (if you have an Ultimate membership), and PC. Not only that, but Cyan Worlds has also announced that even more launch platforms will be announced for Myst in the future. Looks like if you're a PlayStation owner, you may not be missing out on this one for much longer.

Myst (the remake, not the original) launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on August 26th. You can wishlist the game right now on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. If you loved the original game and its many sequels, this looks like an essential one to check out.
