Ahead of Jump Festa this weekend in Japan, Bandai Namco livestreamed a new trailer and gameplay of My Hero Academia: One's Justice. The trailer shown is nothing more than an eye-catching teaser, but the gameplay footage is our first real look at One's Justice. Described as a "3D action fighting game," My Hero Academia: One's Justice is a highly stylized fighter with destructible stages. It was teased in Weekly Jump approximately two weeks ago, with a whole slew of footage and information to come from Jump Festa. Developed by Byking, My Hero Academia: One's Justice is set to release in Japan sometime next year, with no news of a Western release at this time.

My Hero Academia is a popular anime and manga series that tells the tale of Izuku Modriya who idolizes superheroes. In a world where superpowers are common, he dreams of gaining a "Quirk" of his own. After gaining his powers as a gift from All-Might, the world's greatest Hero, Izuku begins to realize his greatest dream. One's Justice will reportedly tell the events of the manga and anime and will feature many characters from the series, each with their trademark Quirks. While it's unclear how these events will play out in One's Justice, this is not the first My Hero Academia game to be released. My Hero Academia: Battle for All was a 2D fighter that released on the 3DS in Japan last year, but it's clear Bandai Namco are pressing on with One's Justice.

The brief glimpse at the gameplay also showed the emphasis on the comic book-style sound effects that appear behind the characters. The destruction appears to be mostly cosmetic, but likely adds bonus damage to moves if triggered. Taking center stage in the above trailer is Katsuki Bakugo, the second protagonist of the My Hero Academia manga and anime. Using his Explosion Quirk, Katsuki is able to knock Izuku into walls and chain destruction elements. There's no telling how much of the cast will appear in One's Justice, but I would expect at least 14 fighters to be available if only to match the cast from Battle for All.

Jump Festa is a yearly exposition centered around manga and anime in all its forms. Sponsored by publisher extraordinaire Shueisha, Jump Festa naturally centers around properties that have been published in any of the Jump magazines (Weekly Shounen Jump, Young Jump, among others). Hosted every year since 1999, the expo is a common source of anime, manga, and game announcements. Even after this announcement, we're no closer to a release date, but still, Byking and Bandai Namco are aiming for a 2018 release on the PS4 and Switch for My Hero Academia: One's Justice.
