Scarlet Moon Studios, a publisher of video game soundtracks, has announced that they released a musical tribute to the recently departed Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata and Japanese musician Eiki Oshimi. The tribute, titled Prescription For Peace: A Tribute To The Departed, features two songs performed by the Japanese duo Gentle Love.

Gentle Love is comprised of Norihiko Hibino (whose name you may recognize as the composer behind some of the Metal Gear Solid games as well as both Bayonetta games) and pianist Ayaki Saito. The first track is a rendition of the Onett theme from Earthbound. The second track is an original composition titled "Sincerely, Yours" and was written as a tribute to Eiki Oshimi, who passed away a few days after Iwata.

The following is a statement by Scarlet Moon Records producer Jayson Napolitano:

"The passing of Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata had a profound effect on me. He wasn't simply some suit running a company, but was truly passionate about videogames, and knowing he was putting on a smile for all of us around the globe while he was most certainly suffering broke my heart. When I reached out to Hibino-san to discuss a possible tribute, I was again heartbroken to hear that his family was mourning the loss of their musical mentor, Eiki Oshimi, who was also taken too early due to cancer. We thought it would be fitting to pay tribute to the two the best way Hibino-san knows how. We hope you can remember all of those who've left us with this beautiful musical tribute."

You can purchase the tribute here for a minimum price of $1, although you can pay more if you want. The minimum $1 price point is to cover the license and distribution fees. All proceeds after will be going towards the American Cancer Society.

Satoru Iwata passed away at the age of 55 on the 11th of July of this year, leaving behind a fantastic legacy

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
