After first appearing online around a month ago, the MultiVersus leak has proven correct. Warner Bros has officially unveiled the platform fighter, which will star stalwarts like Batman, Scooby-Doo's Shaggy, and Adventure Time's Jake the Dog, among others.

What can we expect from MultiVersus?

MultiVersus is Warner Bros' co-op focused take on platform fighters like Super Smash Bros and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. It'll emphasize team-up attacks and feature a 2v2 battle system in which you'll pick from a range of Warner Bros characters from universes as diverse as BatmanSteven Universe, and Game of Thrones. The game's existence was a rather poorly-kept secret up until now; the roster leaked last month, causing Warner Bros to go on a DMCA rampage, shutting down stories containing official artwork. You can check out the first look trailer for MultiVersus, which shows off its gameplay and some team-up attacks, right here.

Much like Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, which looks like it's going to get some more characters after launch, Warner Bros says it's committing to ongoing seasons and new content for MultiVersus. You can expect new characters, skins, modes, and regular events that expand MultiVersus' content. The studio also says it's investing in high-quality netcode and dedicated servers, so the experience should be lag-free, which is important for platform fighters like this. If you'd rather play solo, don't worry; Warner Bros says it'll support solo play with MultiVersus as well, so you won't need a group of friends around you to enjoy it.

When is the MultiVersus release date?

Right now, we don't know exactly when MultiVersus will launch. The MultiVersus release date is shrouded in mystery, but we do have a release window of 2022. The game will release simultaneously worldwide, and will be available on PlayStation consoles, Xbox platforms, and PC. Intriguingly, there's no word yet of a Nintendo Switch release, although the platform would seem perfect for a project like this. Perhaps Warner Bros simply doesn't want to compete with Super Smash Bros Ultimate and its unbeatable range of Mii costumes.

Ever wanted to see Tom & Jerry beat the living daylights out of Superman? MultiVersus will let you do just that.

We'll bring you more on MultiVersus, including a prospective release date, as soon as we get it. Until then, you can keep up with the game via its Twitter page or join the official Discord server if you want to chat to like-minded Warner Bros fans. We can't wait until this one comes out so we can start assembling tier lists, although it's a pretty pointless endeavor as Shaggy is guaranteed to top every single one.
