It seems a leak to Amazon has lead to Ed Boon posting "The name of the game is "Mortal Kombat X" on his twitter. And then posting the trailer.

In the trailer we see Scorpion and Sub-Zero fighting in a dark forest. Nothing too surprising. It is conformed to be "Fueled by next-gen technology" according to the videos description. As well as a 2015 release date and the tag line "Who's Next". One thing however is, Scorpion throws a sword at the very end, does this mean they are reintroducing weapons back into the game?

A listing for Mortal Kombat X appeared briefly on Amazon UK. The listings had versions for PC, PS4, X-box One, PS3 and X-box 360.  Of course the listings were removed before the trailer was released.

In 2011 after the demise of Midway, Ed Boon's new studio NetherRealm managed to reboot the franchise. They then released the DC fighter Injustice: Gods Among Us. Both games were received well so a new Mortal Kombat isn't that surprising. Rumors of a new MK game have been making the rounds for a while as well as Ed Boon counting down to something on his twitter.

Now that the game is confirmed I wouldn't be surprised if we learn more at E3.
