Mortal Kombat 11 and Days Gone Dominate April Sales

The sales for the month of April are in, and Mortal Kombat 11 and Days Gone both came out on top.

According to video game analyst Mat Piscatella, Days Gone was the 2nd best selling game in April, despite mixed reviews With only one month of total sales in, has become SIE Bend Studios best selling game of all time, according to updated NPD data.

It should be noted that Days Gone is the first PS4 title from SIE Bend Studio. Previous work was mostly on the PlayStation Vita, where the developers worked on Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Uncharted: Fight for Fortune. Their last major foray onto a home console was in 2007 with Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, which was also released on the PlayStation Portable.

For Sony, Days Gone has been a major success however, having the 7th best selling launch month title for a Sony produced game ever.

The number one spot across the board was reserved for Mortal Kombat 11. The latest installment in the fighting game franchise by Netherealm Studios was well received by most critics, became not only the best-selling game of April, but the best-selling game across all platforms, including the PC.

Mortal Kombat 11 also has another distinction; it is now the 2nd best selling game of the year, according to NPD data which tracks both physical and most digital sales.

Rounding out the top five for April was MLB 19: The Show, Tom Clancy's: The Division 2, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.  As for the best-selling games of the year, Square Enix still holds the top spot with Kingdom Hearts III, with The Division 2, Anthem and Resident Evil 2 in third, fourth and fifth respectively.
