For a long while, it looked as though Platinum Games would never be able to make a follow-up to the universally acclaimed Bayonetta. However with the help of Nintendo, a sequel was made in the form of Bayonetta 2 (which was arguably even better than the first) and now another Bayonetta sequel is being teased.
The Bayonetta series has definitely had a difficult road so far. Universally acclaimed by both critics and gamers, the first Bayonetta was a hit in everything but what really counted for the people who funded the title: sales. For many, the five-year wait for a sequel was an excruciating and sometimes hopeless endeavor, but last year fans were rewarded with a game that has since topped many lists as one of the best games of 2014.
In terms of a sequel, an interview from 4Gamer has unveiled an interesting quote from Bayonetta 2 producer Akiko Kuroda , which looks promising to say the least:
“I have started working on the next project, but it looks like the announcement will come later. In any case, I think that it would be nice if something Bayonetta-related was also developed in 2015, so please pay attention to the continuation of Bayonetta!”
It seems as though that becoming an exclusive title for the Wii U was a good move for both Platinum Games and for the Bayonetta series in general, and that there may indeed be another Bayonetta sequel in the cards.
