Funcom has announced a release date for Moons of Madness, a spooky sci-fi game about avoiding terrifying monsters. It may not be Halloween, but it's close.
Set in the same world as MMORPG The Secret World, Moons of Madness has you step into the role of a man who has traveled all the way to Mars on a research mission. Naturally things go horribly wrong, as a mysterious infection takes over his space station, flooding it with an unknown substance and causing horrifying monsters to crawl out of the walls. Now he needs to try and escape, while avoiding being killed, corrupted, or just straight up going insane.
Thankfully, you don't have to wait much longer to try this, as Moons of Madness will be launching on PC on October 22nd. There's a slight delay for the console port, but you'll only have to wait a few months for that. If you're a fan of The Secret World, then you'll be glad to hear that the game will contain throwbacks and references to that game, but if you haven't played it then Moons of Madness will also stand on its own. Rock Pocket Games CEO Ivan Moen had the following to say about Moons of Madness' upcoming release:
We wanted to make a game that combines Lovecraftian elements and Mars exploration, and central to a good Lovecraft experience is the battle that goes on in your own mind. You will face external threats, sure, but having to face your inner demons at the same time is what makes this truly terrifying.
Moons of Madness will be coming to PC on October 22nd for the price of $24.99. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version will follow on January 21st, 2020.
